A merging of stars to spur design dialogue

Every year a different city is given the honour of hosting the AGI Congress and in 2014 it was the turn of São Paulo, Brazil. To spur a dialogue with the Brazilian design community, every member of AGI was invited to create a poster based on the question ‘What Comes to Your Mind When You Think of Brazil?’. Every member was also asked to invite a young designer to create a poster. I was invited to take part by my boss, Harry Pearce.

The stars of the Brazilian flag represent the 27 states, with their positions reflecting the sky over Rio de Janeiro on November 15 1889, which was the founding of the Brazilian Republic. My poster
takes this constellation and pairs it with the stars which could be seen above São Paulo, on August 18th 2014, at the opening of the AGI Congress.
